Last time we left Terra, her mother had been drowned by Gesthal and as far as we know, she was taken away to be raised by the Empire. Little,if anything,is known about this period of her life. Many people assume she was out under the Slave Crown immediately and not set free of mind control until we find her in Narshe. But I refuse to believe that. This is just a theory, but since Terra was just an infant, she would have very little clue about her past at the time, so I suppose the Empire could have decided to just make her think she was one of them-for the time being. When we see Kefka putting the Slave Crown on Terra, she is in her adult sprite form. Since Vicks and Wedge mentioned that she burned 50 MagiTek soldiers to death in under 3 minutes, she could not have possibly have been slave-crowned for all that time! She is seen many times within the game communicationg to her father, Maduin, via Magecite pendant. It is just my theory that they grew close using this mean of communication over the years, and this eventually led to Terra kickin those MagiTek Maniacs behinds, and that was when the Empire realized she was too dangerous to have her own free will, and made her a slave. But that is just a theory, and is not stated in the game. Now, back to the game, Terra, Vicks, and Wedge have been ordered to go to Narshe to fetch Tritoch, another Esper, for their plans to revive magic. Fat chance dudes! After whooping the soldiers of Narshe, the trio heads into the mines and they find..... an orange snail dude! After fighting them, something weird happens, and Terra awakens in the care of Arvis in the towwn. VIcks and Wedge are nowhere to be seen, presumably dead. Terra awakens, with a mild case of amnesia(I say mild because she remembered her name so quickly) and Arvis tells her what's up. All of a sudden BANG BANG BANG! It's the Empire! "All right, give the girl up! NOW!" Terra runs away, and tries to escape, but falls through a hole and has a flashback to when she is being slave-crowned.Arvis sends Locke, a thief and another Returner to rescue her from the guards, and he does so with the help of the Moogles! Kupo! ^^ Terra and Locke meet, and Terra explains she has a case of amnesia, and Locke seems unsettled(remember Rachel?) and vows to protect her no matter what. No, she is NOT a damsel, dang it! Cut her some slack, she has a case of amnesia here! They go to South Figaro where Edgar tries to make her fall in love with him while posing as an Imperial ally. Kefka comes after them, tries to burn down the castle, but the three hop off onto Chocos and high-tail it outta there! They run into Sabin, Edgar's younger brother, on Mt. Koltz, and Terra utters her funniest line in the game "... I thought he was some bodybuilder who strayed from his Gym!" Anyhow, the quartet goes to the Returners hiding place. Banon welcomes them and explains what the Returners mission is. After a sort of retelling of the Greek myth of Pandora's Box, Banon asks Terra to "...be our last ray of light. Our hope." and she agrees. Well the Empire finds you AGAIN, and your group splits up. Locke heads for South Figaro, and Banin, Edgar, Sabin, and Terra raft through the Lete River. They fight Ultro, and Sabin gets washed overboard, presumably dead. The rest of your party heads back to Narshe, and they wait for Locke and Sabin to come back. But they get more than they bargained for, because it is not just Locke and Sabin that show up- but three new very different crew members-Celes, an ex-Imperial General, Cyan, a very traditional medevial knight, and Gau, a green-haired animal-boy. Anyhow, you fight the Empire and Kefka and win! This Battle is a turning point for our star here. She just wants answers to who she is. She goes up to Tritoch, and all of a sudden turns into a pink creature with glowing red eyes and flies off to who knows where. Stunned, your party plans their next move. When you finally locate Terra she is in ZoZo, which I like to call RainyWorld ^^ In some shack, Terra is found resting in the care of Ramuh and tells you what's up (refer back to the Past section to know what I'm taking about) Knowing she is not in the best shape to help you, she explains she needs to learn more about herself before she can do her best. Afterward, you learn how to equip Espers and all that jazz, and Terra and Celes are no longer your only magic users :( Now, you are instructed to head for the Imperial capital with Locke and Celes.... but you need an AirShip. Celes impersonates Maria and sings the famous 'Aria De Mezzo Catarrer" Setzer thinks shes Maria and kidnaps her. When they explain YET AGAIN what they are doing, Setzer agrees to help you... if Celes will marry him. But this doesn't happen, and you fly off to Vector and invade the MagiTek Research Facility. Once inside, you discover the full horrors of what the Empire has done to the Espers. You get a LOT of magecite here, because the Espers are glad to put themselves out of their misery to help your party defeat the ones that have done them harm. When you find Kefkaa, he uses some sort of Confuse spell on Locke thaat convinces him Celes was a spy all along. Rather than get her friends hurt, Celes teleports out and your party has to RUN! You also convince Cid the Empire is bad in the process. Then, the crew heads back to ZoZo, Maduin reveals her whole story to her and she feels ready to help the Returners again, even though she does not have her full memory back yet. The next step is to try to convince the remaining Espers still safe in their own world to come out and help the Returners Brave on her part, considering she knows the cruel things that humans have done to the Espers. They burst out of the gate, but when they discpver that the Empire virtually created an Esper Holocaust, they go cuckoo in Vector. Gesthal plays a trick here and pretends to make peace with the Returners. Of course, you are not sure you believe them, so everyone except Terra and Locke stay behind. TxL travel to Crescent Island along with Celes, Leo, and Shadow to Crescent Island. On the nighttime scene, Terra yearningly expresses her need to discover love and explains this to General Leo. I, of course, thought they were going to fall in love, but sadly this does not happen. Anyhow, you come to Thamasa, the only town left with non-Imperial magic users.Strago, a village elder, agrees to help is your search for the Espers and his granddaughter Relm sneaks along, and saves you from annoying Ulty! You convince more Espers to join you again and everything is supernova till Kefka shows up. He turns the Espers into Magecite and slaughters General Leo ;_; Leo was wonderful! then prances off again to cause more chaos and suffering, while your party kicks themselves in the gut for going along and buries Leo. Though Terra does not learn about love with a man, but with children, I believe Leo's funeral was when Terra began to understand love. Afterward, Locke and Celes kiss and make up, and Kefka and Gesthal launch a continent into the air (Man, the music was AWESOME!) You go after them but fail-miserably. Kefka kills Gesthal, and ends the world, more or less. This is the end of the World of Balance. Kefka sets himself up in a Tower with the Light of Judgement that eradicates entire towns that tick him off in even the slightest manner. Terra ends up in one of these which is populated by orphaned children. She feels needed to care for them, and finally feels she does not need to be a killing machine anymore. Because of this, she loses her fighting edge-temporarily. Celes & Co show up, and Phunbaba attacks. Terra tries to fight, but is easily defeated. The next time Phunbaba attacks, Terra gets her fighting edge back and realizes she needs to fight to protect her children-and know realizes what love is. After you gather everyone up and level the crew up, you go to kill Kefka. Terra, being half-Esper, may very well die, considering magic is going to leave the world as soon as Kefka dies, but she goes along because she loves her children so. Anyhow, you duke it out with Kefka, and the Tower starts to fall. Terra, who is in Esper form, says she can get you out of their safely before she dies. In her ending, Maduin reveals to her, that if something ties her strongly enough to this world, she will be able to remain as a human being. It is a close call, but Terra morphs back into a human just in time, and because of her love for children, is able to remain as a human being.
